reluctant entertainer
Since being in the cottage, the continuous work and slow preparation has meant no-one over, no hospitality. Until this weekend when I put out the invitation to some friends for Saturday night.
...I filled the cottage with tealights and flowers, there's nothing like candlelight and flowers to hide the dings and I kept the menu very simple, chicken in wine with lemon and a coupla Jamie Oliver specials that I've relied on heavily in the past to make it look like I've made effort when really I've shoved it in the oven with not a lot of prep (just like my painting!!) I so enjoyed making up the table, it was so nice to get it all ready and use some of my vintage linens.

I can't wait to see your garden! I keep forgetting it's school holidays as I have to go to work :( and don't get to spend much time with Chloe. I have never not been around for the holidays for either of the girls so it's a little bit sad for me and for Chloe too I think.
Your dining table looks gorgeous... so simple and fresh and elegant. Love it! I think we may have the same dining chairs, lol! Might I say you have great taste :)
I hope you have fun in the garden with your kids and enjoy the holidays... hope the rain doesn't stop you doing what you want to do!

Great post, and Sandy is the BEST. I love her ideas for simple hospitality and where the focus should be. She is right on! I am so glad you created such a lovely hospitable event for your guests!
Blessings,

I too Love Sandy and her site! I think a lot of us feel the same way that you do about wanting to wait until its all perfect.... but there is no perfect. Our homes will always be a work in progress!

Your table looks gorgeous... and since I guess we aren't using the word perfect, I won't say it... I'll just say gorgeous.

Your table looks beautiful! I linked over from Reluctant Entertainer. Sandy has a gift for reminding us of what IS important. I'm so glad that you were blessed by opening your home!
