A Beach Cottage Gardens with a Vintage Suitcase

I went through my suitcase stash at the end of last week (errm you have a suitcase stash?  errm yep that would be affirmative) looking for something to shove flowers in.

There were various suitcases, from various thrifting adventures, in various forms of completion including that one I found out treasure hunting a few months ago with the lovely Mr BC behind the camera...(I decided that one is coming in, undressed and unpainted to sit on top of my wardrobe to hide cr*pola...more on that soon.)

Anywayy why was I madly looking for a suitcase??  Well this all started with Ms Buick, who, yep, I admit I stalk for updates...and is well and truly up there in my Google Reader...I am sure you all know her much better than me, I am only just getting acquainted...

She posted about her gardening with herbs, or lack thereof this week, in an old washtub and I felt an insane jealousy a pang of mild envy at her container eye candy and ran around the Beach Cottage looking for something to do my own version of her herbs-in-a-washtub... without a washtub or for that matter any herbs I started to feel this incessant need to fill something with pretty white flowers ...something to sit on the deck to look pretty while all around is getting battered by the elements here Down Under as the long hard winter ;-) begins to set in.

And while looking in the garage which is yet again embarrassingly full of vintage things but no old washtubs I decided to make use of the suitcases that I regularly come across while out and about and have yet to muster up the courage to actually leave out there for other vintage-suitcase-lovers to do the happy dance about.

I must admit I was all ready and raring to go with the white paint but literally with the brush dipped in the glorious pure stuff I decided actually I might well leave it in all it's chocolatey-hint-of-days-gone-by glory.

And so here we have it...I know not how this amalgamation of vintage delight and flower heaven may last but for now it's hitting my container gardening spot.

I will see you chicks later, we are being hit by a huge storm in Sydney as I type...a Severe Weather Warning has been issued...the wind is howling and rain is lashing no door painting for me :-)

A Beach Cottage... Hanging out on Australian Beaches

G'day my lovelies, hmm from my Facebook friends I am hearing that for once some of you might be having better weather and better temps than us poor fellows that have been suffering here Down Under for at least, oh 5 days, with rain and grey.  Yeah, not loving that at all.

So with that in mind and while I am thinking of sun and blue skies, I thought I would show you some of the stranger goings on of Australian life.

A Beach Cottage Treasure Hunting for Vintage Things

G'day pop pickers, how you doin'?

Umm yeah, before we proceed, I need to send out a warning that you may bore of your visits here because all my most recent pictures involve flowers, flowers and flowers...because on my arrival home from the Old Country awaiting me was yet another stack of books from The Book Depository, choc full of inspiration (thank goodness Miss Beach Cottage opened them and put them beside my bead before there were any raised eyebrows from the males).

I don't know what it is about that online store that makes me keep on adding to the basket and then rubbing my hands together with glee as I pay with Paypal, like some kind of virtual if it didn't actually cost anything...kinda feels like it's not real and then even better a few days later eye candy gets delivered right to your door while you are still in your jarmies.  Now that's what I call service.

Inspired by Miss Dahl, A Beach Cottage TV ....In the Kitchen + GIVEAWAY!

G'day lovelies, thanks for all the cookbook ideas.  I must say I hadn't even considered the Pioneer Woman book, though for sure I have heard of it, who hasn't? I don't really follow her blog (funny how certain blogs hook you and some don't isn't it?)...I might see if the Book Depository has that ;-)
