Beach Cottage Bedroom, Flowers from the Front & Vintage Things

027p

G'day, how are you all out there in your various places in the world?

Seeing as I have spent most of these last two weeks of the Easter break holed up in this very spot reading or surfing, this morning I thought I would show you where I have been hiding out and where at precisely nineteen minutes past ten yesterday morning someone coming to do some work on the cottage knocked on the door and I was ahem, how shall we say, naked and had the fright of my life... as an approaching 40 yr old woman spending a frantic minute pulling on jeans and a t-shirt, and scraping one's hair into a pony so I could at least let them in without scaring them away, is very much not fun...

You may think that my darling husband and I love DIY, right?

All dancing around in gleeful DIY honeymoon lurve while we feather our nest on our exciting seachange, a million miles away from home in Australia...and sit together every evening talking about Beach Cottage DIY projects.

You would be so wrong.

But we do quite enjoy making something outta nothing, always have and the makeover dance really is quite a good one.

Though send me 30 grand and I could make this bathroom rock your boat.  Baby.

A Beach Cottage ~ Vintage Coastal Chic

335p
 G'day chicks.

Recently when the lovely Holly at Decor8 bestowed her magic wand of blog glitter all over the Beach Cottage I loved how she coined BC style as Coastal Flea Market...how come I didn't think of that?

'Cos for sure she got that right...seeing as most of the stuff in this tatty old place hails from me running around the beaches looking for vintage things and furniture with a past...stuff that is scuffed and marked with that lovely patina brought about by age...

Beach Cottage Old Vintage Suitcases...going White...& Tulips!

Good morning my lovely Beach Cottagers.  How are you going this fine day?  All here is all well and good.  The weekend was completely non-productive, I needed that, and if you follow me on Facebook, you will know I didn't get out of bed until lunchtime on Saturday and while the cottage was empty while all were out at a soccer match I stayed home to 'clean' for guests who were coming on Sunday.

But, once the Beach Cottage crew had left for soccer I proceeded by pretending to scrub and polish but in fact threw some bleach down the toilet and then plumped up the cushions on the sofa, fixed myself a nice cup of tea and settled down with a new home decor book.  Which I will show you soon and will definitely be running a giveaway for...soo lovely.

Beach Cottage Ambles down to the Sea

005p

G'day, hope you are looking forward to the weekend.

I have to say that I am absolutely loving the weather here - it's warm enough to lounge on the beach for hours in beautiful sunlight but not so hot the sand burns your feet and a beach umbrella is a pre-requisite for not being burnt to a cinder...

Nope, at this time of year ambling down the beach with a mat, a few towels and a book is all too easy.  And in these school hols that is exactly what the Beach Cottage kiddos and I have been doing.

Postcards from Beach Cottage Treasure Hunting ~ Vintage Grindley Jugs ~

001ppp
   G'day sweeties!

Well thank you for the comments on the dress (for those of you who asked and I didn't get around to emailing, dress is from satch.com.au)...and shoes...I have to tell you I picked the best shots there whatever you may think about there not being a Horror List...from your comments I guess the dress, as I thought, really is doing a great camouflage job.

Now to all of you who have asked (those who Facebook with me will already know), the dress is for a function I am heading back to the Old Country for soon...a long way to go for a party...and a little bit of apprehension here from this here Beach Cottage owner..

Now let us move swiftly on to much more interesting things.  Vintage jugs.  Ho ho ho.  I know someone who likes vintage jugs more than I do.  Do you? :-)

A Beach Cottage Giveaway & The Little Black Dress from the City

053pp

In the not too distant future I am going away on a long trip, for a party.

And for ages I have had n o t h i n g to wear and no prospect of finding anything that remotely fitted 1. the bill of the event and 2. the various parts of my body that I feel it necessary to now, at this stage of life, keep well and truly covered up.

A Beach Cottage Bunch of Eight Dollar Blooms & Featured at Decor8

196P
 G'day.  How's it going?

Well, it is grey and drizzly here in Australia for the third day of the real school holidays and so I find myself at mid-day not only in my pj's but still in bed.  On the laptop.  With tea.  And bagels.  Life is good.

Yesterday, as you know I went to the city, hopped on the ferry and took a ride to all the delights of Sydney.  It is an amazing city for sure and first of all as I stepped off the ferry right alongside the Opera House, over the quay and up one of the main streets, I felt just a tad overwhelmed...short ferry trip but a million miles from my tatty old cottage...

Beach Cottage TV ~ Easter Decorating with Beadboard Wallpaper

178p

G'day beauties, so pleased you enjoyed our little trip to the beach, thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

Now look at that up there, isn't it just the most divine 1980's special you ever did see?  Yes sirree Mr President, along with the lovely aluminium window frames, this bathroom is one of the things that I fell in love with when we came to view this old place.  Not.

So, rather than do any one of the one hundred and fifty million other DIY-y chores that seem to be continually on our list for when we have a 'free day'...I decided to start moaning about this bathroom...again
